Server and Encoder for Streaming Video/Audio

The RRZK supports employment of digital audio and video contents within the framework of teaching and research. Our facilities make streaming of video and audio possible on-demand as well as live transmission within the network of the university of Cologne and in the internet.

The server which is responsible for providing the contents is able to stream a number of current video and audio formats, for example Windows Media Video and Audio or Flash.

For the production, an encoder processor has been installed which can be used to convert the video raw data into the streaming formats.

Also, the RRZK multimedia notebooks can be used for live encoding. DV camaras and HDV camaras are available for recording.

Additional software is available for the production of On-Demand data. Besides that, the RRZK video editing sites can be used for this purpose.
