Creating Websites

TYPO3

The RRZK offers the Content Management System TYPO3 with a standardized installation. This contains full administrative access, the template with the corporate design of the University of Cologne, global installations and extensions.

Web projects

A web project is an individual web appearance with special resource requirements. Pure web space can be requested for this purpose.

Employee websites

Every employee of the University of Cologne, who owns an uni-account, can publish a personal website.

Website features

The RRZK offers basics to include local websites, contact forms, university site plans, CAPTCHA and a tool for creating online surveys, for websites of institutions of the University.

Conventions for creating websites

Sticking to the conventions ensures that new websites will be displayed correctly and fit the overall concept of the University of Cologne.

Wikis

Wiki contents can not only be read by all users but also revised or altered directly in the browser. This way, a joint reference text with the knowledge of all users can be created.

Blogs

Institutions of the university can have their own blogs. Design and content of the blogs are (within limits) free to the useres. The standard design follows the web appearence of the University of Cologne.

URL-Shortener

It is used to shorten URLs of the university's web appearance that are too long. This can be very useful for referencing links in news paper articles, e-mails or short messages. (Twitter etc.)

Request your own web address

You can request your own web address for independent and extensive web appearances on the main server. The web address will be arranged in form of a server name like xyz.uni-koeln.de.

Example: rhim.uni-koeln.de instead of www.uni-koeln.de/phil-fak/ifl/asm/rhim
