eduroam Wi-Fi access on Windows 8 Phone

You can connect your Windows 8 Phone to the University Wi-Fi network.

1. Import the root certificate: Open the link below on your device or send yourself the certificate via email (right click, save as). Alternatively, you can scan the QR code with your smart phone.

2. Swipe right to the main menu.

3. Tap on “Settings” in the application list.

4. Choose “Wi-Fi”.

5. If Wi-Fi is “off”, swipe to the right to turn it on.

 

6. Choose the "eduroam” network.

7. Enter the username for your student or employee account in the username field, followed by the suffix “@uni-koeln.de”.

Important: The suffix "@uni-koeln.de" must be added for both student and employee accounts (not "@smail.uni-koeln.de" or the like), or you will not be able to connect to eduroam at other universities.

8. Now enter the password of your account in the password field.

9. Activate the "Validate server certificate" option and tap the "Select Certificate” field.

10. Select the "DE, German Telekom AG, ..." certificate.

11. Click the "Finish” button.

12. Tap “Yes”.

13. An error message may appear stating that it was not possible to connect to the network. This is normal; just tap on "Finish” again.

14. You are now connected to eduroam.
