1. Set up the root certificate
In order for your personal certificate to be trusted by Adobe, you must first import the root certificate from which your personal certificate is derived. The DFN-Verein, which issues your certificate, is itself certified by Deutsche Telekom.
On the website of the IT department of the University Administration you will find a .fdf file which makes it easier for you to import the root certificate. Download the file, which can be found under point 2 of the FAQ article Mit Adobe unterschreiben - digitale Signaturen zertifizieren.
Then execute it with an Adobe Reader or Professional. Please press 'Set Contact Trust...' [Picture 1] and then check 'Use this certificate as a trusted root' and further down 'Certified documents' [Picture 2]. Confirm this settings with 'OK'.
