Media Technology
The media technology section of the RRZK/ITCC is where all the pieces come together when it comes to the media technology installed in the centrally managed teaching rooms at the University of Cologne. Our team takes care of the planning and realization of future media equipment for lecture halls and seminar rooms. We are also the immediate point of contact for problems with the currently installed media technology and are happy to advise you on any questions regarding media technology at the University of Cologne.
FAQ
Why can't I see my presentation on the screen/monitor?
Please check if your laptop or device is connected to the system via the correct input, e.g. HDMI 1 or 2, USB-C or VGA. Also check that the correct input is selected on the touch display or control panel and that the output of your device is duplicated or extended to the external projector/monitor.
Why can't I hear the sound of the video I am playing on the projection through the speakers?
The audio output on your laptop or device may be muted or set at a level that is too low. You may need to change the audio settings on your laptop for playback via an external audio device. Also check that the 'Medien Ton' playback button on the touch display or control panel is activated or may also be set too low.
How do I use the headset or the handheld transmitters for my lectures?
First of all, you must pick up your microphone from the building management in the building where you are giving your lecture. The building management will be able to give you brief instructions on how to use the microphone.
What if I have technical problems before or during my presentation? Who can I contact if I need help?
For initial support, please contact the building management of the building in which you are located - minor problems should be resolved that way. If the problems cannot be resolved immediately, the building management will contact the corresponding department to inform a media technician.
I have very little knowledge of media technology and feel insecure when dealing with the media equipment in the seminar rooms and lecture halls. Is it possible to receive an introduction on how to use the technology?
Yes, of course! In the future, the new 'Media Technology Services' department instruct lecturers on how to use the media technology in our upcoming training room. In the meantime, please contact the Media Technology Services department by email to arrange an appointment for individual instructions.
