Types of tunnels: full/ split tunnel

VPN constructs virtual tunnels through which data can be exchanged. There are two types of tunnels for you to choose from:

Full-tunnel Split-tunnel
All Internet traffic is running via the University network. This tunnel is active on pages, which are inside the university network
You need the full tunnel for access to databases of the university library (e-media). Downloads and traffic from external servers are not channelled through the University.
Warning: To reach devices in your home network (such as printers), you have to select "local LAN access" in the settings of the VPN client.
In the manual configuration of the VPN client, enter as group name: uklan-full. In the manual configuration of the VPN client, enter as group name: uklan-split.

For the use of the AnyConnect Client the profiles are numbered and they are called for example „1-Full-Tunnel“. Furthermore you can choose for the profiles of the AnyConnect Client if you want to see the homepage of the University of Cologne after setting up the connection. If you don't want to see it, choose a profile with the addition „_ohne_Startseite“.
