The research data storage (RDS)
An S3 object storage system has been set up at the University of Cologne specifically for research data. It is intended exclusively for research data in larger quantities above 1 TB. The storage is currently only available in the University of Cologne network (UKLAN) and can be accessed directly by devices with S3 interfaces (a research cloud with a NextCloud front end is in preparation). The RRZK/ITCC can support you with some "best practices". A test account is also available.
Apply for RDS via TAMARA
The allocation of storage space is science-led (data management plan) and free of charge.
Please apply for RDS storage space for institutions via our storage management system TAMARA:
- Select "RDS" as the storage type.
In the further procedure, you will receive a template of a data management plan in which you describe your use of the RDS. If you have any questions about the allocation or technical support, please contact fdm-storageuni-koeln.de.
