B3D - Big Bang to Big Data
The B3D Cluster is an interdisciplinary collaboration between universities and research institutions in NRW that aims to create a prosperous network of experts in astrophysics and data science. Using currently powerful analysis and visualization techniques, sustainable technology and infrastructure, sustainable technology and infrastructure, solutions for the upcoming challenges of the next generation of astronomical observatories will be developed in close collaboration with other leading academic and industrial partners. One of the goals of the B3D cluster is to generate synergies between different areas of research and to provide a joint research-oriented training program in future technologies that can be applied to astronomical research and beyond.
RRZK in the B3D Cluster
The RRZK participates in this cluster in two ways. On one hand, we are making the organizational and logistical preparations for hosting the CCAT Observatory Data Center. On the other hand, we support the research data management (RDM) in the cluster, by providing convenient templates for implementing RDM solutions in different projects, detecting gaps in our RDM processes and suggesting ways to improve, and connecting with national RDM initiatives to benefit from synergies and facilitate further cooperation means.
