Types of tunnels: full/ split tunnel
VPN constructs virtual tunnels through which data can be exchanged. There are two types of tunnels for you to choose from:
|All Internet traffic is running via the University network.||This tunnel is active on pages, which are accessed only via the university network.|
|You need the full tunnel for access to databases of the university library (e-media).||Downloads and traffic from external servers are not channelled through the University.|
|Warning: To reach devices in your home network (such as printers), you have to select "local LAN access" in the settings of the VPN client.|
For the use of the AnyConnect Client the profiles are numbered and they are called for example „1-Full-Tunnel“. Furthermore you can choose for the profiles of the AnyConnect Client if you want to see the homepage of the University of Cologne after setting up the connection. If you don't want to see it, choose a profile with the addition „_ohne_Startseite“.
