A web project is an individualized web appearance with special resource requirements. You can request free webspace including PHP, Perl, Python and/or a MySQL-databank as well as SSl-support for this purpose.
Every institute, as well as any other acknowldeged institutions of the University of Cologne, can run a web project. Web projects require a lot of care of the person in charge and should only be requested if there is a real need for it.
Special resource requirements for a web project are considered to be:
- if a server-side programming language is needed for the appearance; the RRZK server support PHP, Perl and Python
- if a data base is needed for the appearance; the RRZK server only support MySQL
- if a SSL-encoded transfer is necessary to receive passwords or other personal related data through the web site.
You don't need to ask for a web project if a URL in the form of www.institutxy.uni-koeln.de is needed. It is sufficient to to request your own web address.
Please read the following information carefully. They are important for trouble-free running of a web project.
- Organisational matters
- Technical matters
- Editorial section
- Writing permission (especially writing permission for a web server)
