The University of Cologne has an Apple School Manager (formerly Apple Volume Purchase Program - VPP) for educational institutions.
Institutions of the University of Cologne can use this program to order and manage apps for Mac and iOS for business use and distribute them to the devices using Apple Configurator 2 or an MDM (Mobile Device Management).
Authorisation for access to the Apple School Manager is provided by the RRZK. The institutions themselves are responsible for the procurement, distribution and administration of the apps.
To get access or information about the Apple School Manager or to get advice, please send an email via our contact form.

Jamf School UoC
As a joint project with the Prorectorate for Teaching and Studies - Digital Studies, RRZK operates a Mobile Device Management.
Supporting mobile Apple devices via Jamf School is particularly useful if larger pools of devices are to be supported. Mobile device management is particularly useful for changing users and different application scenarios in research and teaching. With an MDM you also have the possibility to limit or precisely determine the functions and apps of the devices.
The Jamf School instance is centrally managed by the RRZK. However, the individual institutes and projects have the greatest possible autonomy. This means that after the initial setup you can manage your devices and apps independently.
Costs are only incurred for the licenses of the individual devices and are manageable.
