Reset network settings

Resetting the network settings can sometimes solve problems when connecting to eduroam.

The following processes are carried out when resetting the network under Windows:

  • All network cards are removed, uninstalled and then reinstalled
  • Network components are reset to factory settings.

It may be necessary to reconfigure VPN client software and virtual switches.

  • Enlarged view:
    Click on the Windows icon at the bottom and then enter "Settings". The corresponding application will be displayed in the search. Click on "Settings" (gear icon).
  • Enlarged view:
    Click on "Network and Internet" in the left bar and on "Advanced network settings" on the right.
  • Enlarged view:
    Now click on the "Reset network" tab.
  • Enlarged view:
    Then click on the "Reset now" button.
  • Enlarged view:
    You will be asked to confirm the reset of the network settings again. Click on "Yes".

  1. Click on the Windows icon at the bottom and then enter "Settings". The corresponding application will be displayed in the search. Click on "Settings" (cogwheel symbol) [Fig. 1].
  2. Click on "Network and Internet" in the left bar and on "Advanced network settings" on the right [Fig. 2].
  3. Now click on the "Reset network" tab [Fig. 3] and then on the "Reset now" button [Fig. 4].
  4. You will be asked to confirm the reset of the network settings again. Click on "Yes". [Picture 5].
  5. A message appears informing you that the computer will be restarted within 5 minutes. Close the message and wait until the computer restarts or perform the restart yourself.
