All users are automatically in the #general channel.

From time to time, general information on Rocket.Chat, such as maintenance work and software updates, is announced here. Please do not use this channel for your own messages!

The user interface is divided into two fields.

• On the left-hand side in the dark-coloured box, you can find the channels and private conversations.
• Actual communication takes place in the box on the right, which has a light-coloured background.

User presence status

By clicking in the top left-hand corner (the first letter of your account), you can set your online status and access the personal settings for your account.

Under "My Account" you can configure alerts and sounds.

If necessary, you can also log out there.

Activate out-of-office messages in Rocket.Chat

You can enable an out-of-office notification in Rocket.Chat, which will be sent to anyone who writes a direct message to you. To avoid confusion, you should simply type the command needed for this into a chat message to yourself (search using the magnifying glass in the top menu, then find your own name or account and start a chat). The command is:

/out-of-office out message

...with "message" replaced by the text you want to send.

the out-of-office message can be disabled later on.
