Why should you try out SOGo?

Our current webmail system, which is based on Horde, will be shut down in the foreseeable future. It will be replaced by a new webmail system based on the SOGo software.

SOGo has all the feel and functionality of webmail, plus some additional features.

You can already try out our new SOGo webmail system during the open test phase before it officially goes live and send in feedback of your experience if you wish. This will also help our admins to get insight into your user experience and implement system updates where applicable.

Please rest assured that the "old" webmail system will remain online during the test phase.

 

SOGo

SOGo is a University of Cologne email serviceand offers full access to your e-mail account from a browser  (so-called "webmailing"). SOGo will replace the current webmail system, which is based on the software Horde, in the near future. The changeover will require some effort, but we are confident that - along with your valuable feedback and our hard work - we will make it happen together.

 

Login

You can reach the SOGo login page at:
https://sogo.uni-koeln.de

 

To log in to SOGo you will need:

Your user name

Your password

And that's it!

As a member of the University of Cologne, you now have full access to SOGo with your student or staff account.

 

Functionality

In addition to the email, webmail offers:

 

  • calendars
  • task lists
  • address book management

Calendars, address books and to-do lists can be shared with other people, for instance in order to work in groups with shared appointments. Despite these functionalities, SOGo ought not be seen as a fully-fledged groupware, as e.g. synchronized document exchange is not possible We still recommend to use  Sciebo for this..
