Token
A token is a device the size of a USB stick with a button and a display. If you press the button, a six-digit number appears on the display, which you can enter in the browser for the Cisco Duo query.
Lending
If you need a token, please proceed as follows:
- First notify the RRZK helpdesk of your need for a token by e-mail.
- Tokens can be borrowed from the University and City Library, for which you will need a library card.
- You can obtain the token at the counter in reading room 1 on the 1st floor of the USB (but only AFTER applying at the RRZK Helpdesk!).
- Once you have received a token, you can usually use it from the following working day.
- It is not necessary to register the token in Cisco Duo.
Use
When Cisco Duo asks you for a code for multi-factor authentication, press the button on the token and enter the code generated there.
Make sure that you hold the token the right way round so that only numbers are displayed. You can use the image above as a reference.
Notes
- If the number displayed on the hardware token is not accepted by Cisco Duo even after several attempts to enter it, please contact the RRZK helpdesk. It is possible that the hardware token is no longer synchronized with Cisco Duo, e.g. due to accidental pressing of the button.
- Administrative staff: Please note that you cannot use tokens for Cisco Duo that you have used/are currently using for access to Citrix.
