Data protection

Directory names: The directories created when SoFS is first used are automatically named according to the respective user ID. The public directories can be viewed by all users, i.e. it can be seen which user ID (account) is using the storage. Unfortunately, renaming is not possible for technical reasons. Users can have their public directory in SoFS deleted: Contact form SoFS

Data storage and transfer: Data is stored unencrypted in the SoFS. Data is also transferred unencrypted, except when accessed via WebDAV. Data requiring special protection (including personal data) should not be stored in SoFS. However, if such data must be stored in SoFS, the data must be suitably encrypted beforehand. In this case, encryption, including key management, is the responsibility of the person storing the data.

Access: Only the SoFS system administrators have access to the private area of user directories in addition to the users themselves. As part of their administrative activities, the listing of directories cannot be ruled out. However, access to a file is only granted after consultation with the user.
