Establishing a VPN connection under Windows Phone 10
You can use this instruction to establish a VPN connection under Windows Phone 10, for example on a Lumia 950 phone. Please follow all the steps. We assume that you already have an existing internet connection.
How to
On the start screen swipe from the right side and tap on Settings.
Tap on "Network & Wireless".
Tap on "Add a VPN connection".
Fill out all fields from the settings page.
Choose "Windows (built-in)" as VPN provider. Enter a description for the VPN connection into the field Connection name, for example "VPN Uni Koeln". Enter "vpngate.uni-koeln.de" as Server name. As VPN type choose "L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key" and enter the Pre-shared key "uklan".
As Type of sign-in info choose "Username and password" and enter your Username and Password of your employee or student account. Afterwards tap on "Save".
Starting a VPN connection
On the VPN view tap on the created entry and choose "Connect" to start the VPN session.
After a successful connection the VPN entry shows the status "Connected".
