Information Security: Travelling Abroad

When travelling abroad, it is important to pay attention to information security, as these journeys involve specific risks that can jeopardize the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. This applies in particular to information technology such as laptops, smartphones and other mobile devices.

This can range from the loss or theft of these devices to insecure networks, targeted cyberattacks or eavesdropping - the threats are diverse and often difficult to predict.

In addition, travelers are often confronted with local-specific legal requirements that further complicate the security situation.

A comprehensive understanding of those risks and the implementation of suitable protective or prevention measures are therefore essential to protect sensitive information and minimise potential damage. This begins with the correct preparation before the trip, continues with the use of secure means of communication and ends with raising awareness of suspicious activities during the stay abroad.
