DFN Web Conferences with Adobe Connect

The University of Cologne is a member of the German National Research and Education Network (DFN) and can therefore offer DFN Video conference services free of charge. For this purpose the webinar application Adobe Connect is available for you.

Requirements

Web conferences can be initiated by persons with a valid employee account. To do this you have to log in via the conference service of the German Research Network (DFN). To use the full range of functions it could be necessary to use the Connect App or a browser plug-in.
This type of conference is only suitable to a limited extent for holding seminars with a larger group of people / auditorium at one location, as several web cameras and microphones cannot be used without considerable additional effort.

Adobe Connect Functions

Adobe Connect is a web conferencing tool which provides the following functions:

  • Audio/Video Multipoint Conferences
  • Shared Whiteboard
  • Archive for Powerpoint Presentations
  • Application and Desktop Sharing
  • Chat
  • Polling
  • Recording of Conferences
  • Working areas for groups

This way you can hold online lectures (webinars) as part of blended learning and e-learning events. A free app is available for mobile devices.

Detailed information concerning participation, functions and requirements can be found on the German National Research and Education Network (DFN) website.
