The multimedia service center provides cameras, microphones, tripods, photo cameras, audio recorders, video conference systems etc. You will find a list of all available equipment here.

Please contact us with your reservation request via the Multimedia contact form. After we have checked the availability of the desired equipment, we will contact you and suggest a date for the pickup, if possible (see also: How does the collection of the equipment work?). You then have to bring your institute's acceptance of liability (PDF, 1,4 MB, german) with you to the specified date and receive the equipment.

In order to prevent unnecessary mail traffic, we ask you to state the following points in your first request: What do you want to lend?

• What is the period of time (start and end time!)?
• Do you need accessories, such as tripods or similar?
• In what context are you goning to use the equipment?

The multimedia service of the RRZK is available to all members of the University of Cologne, that means students and staff. However, the devices are not lent for private purposes, but only for projects that serve research and teaching and those that take place within the university framework. To ensure this, you need to have this confirmed on your institution's acceptance of liability (PDF, 1,4 MB, german).

The maximum rental period for the equipment is 1 week. In exceptional cases, an extension is also possible, but only if circumstances make it necessary and only after prior approval In addition, certain equipment that can be used during the semester is also excluded. The pre-condition for this exception is, among other things, that no other reservations have been made for the same period.

In general, yes. Since we only have a limited contingent of equipment, it is advisable to reserve it as early as possible. Nevertheless, it is possible that equipment will be available at short notice. For requests or reservations, please use the contact form to get in touch with us.

The liability for lent equipment is assumed by the respective institute or institution. Before you can lend equipment from us, the assumption of liability must be confirmed by your institute or institution. Please use the liability acceptance form (PDF, 1,4 MB, german).

All equipment can be picked up at the Multimedia Office (Building 133, Weyertal 121, 50931 Köln). Please make an appointment with us beforehand.

No. The lending service is free of charge for all members of the University of Cologne. Please note, however, that consumables such as batteries must be provided by you.

In case you need consultation regarding usage scenarios or an introduction into equipment operation, please contact us in advance. We give short introductions for the correct use of the equipment.

Basically, you have to handle the processing of the content you have created yourself.  If you do not have the resources to do this by yourself, we can support you with some tasks, such as the digitisation of DV tapes or the post-production of footage. Unfortunately, we cannot perform more extensive work for you, such as cutting/preparing material, due to time constraints, but we can provide you with advisory support.
